I moved to Avondale in Spring of 2004 from Uptown. Ethnically, it is mostly a Polish neighborhood. However, the area between Diversey and Belmont (where I live) is transitioning into a Latino neighborhood. Logan Square, south of Diversey, has long been a Puerto Rican neighborhood, but the Latinos moving into Avondale appear to be mostly Mexican. In addition to Latinos, Avondale is receiving waves of yuppies as new, very expensive condo developments are being constructed. The result is that a formally quiet and relatively unknown immigrant enclave is turning into an eclectic neighborhood in its own right.

Most of these pictures were taken in the vicinity of my apartment, although Avondale extends far to the north and west of it.
