The vast majority of this "neighborhood" consists the Forest Preserves lining the Des Plaines river. According to the Encyclopedia of Chicago, the forest preserves were annexed in in 1958 by the City of Chicago to solidify its connection to O'Hare Airport (which is within the city limits but not shown on the map). There are office buildings clustered along Higgins Road, as well as a few residential areas clustered on the east side, consisting mostly of bungalows and similar to the Dunning neighborhood.
